Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA)

In March 2016 ABI College underwent a Higher Education Review for alternative providers [HER (AP)] by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) and the report is available in full on the  QAA’s website.

We have received the following judgements from the QAA

• The maintenance of the academic standards of awards offered on behalf of degree-awarding bodies and/or other awarding organisations meets UK expectations.
• The quality of student learning opportunities meets UK expectations.
• The quality of the information about learning opportunities meets UK expectations.
• The enhancement of student learning opportunities meets UK expectations.

The QAA is the official ‘Watchdog ‘of UK Higher Education and the review outcome is an official endorsement of the quality of courses offered by ABI College. The review also highlighted the following features of good practice:

• The sustained and systematic development of the virtual Learning Environment (VLE) in order to provide accessible learning and teaching support for staff and students (Expectation B3 and Enhancement).
• The thorough and detailed use of version control procedures for managing policy documentation (Expectation C).

Action Plan
Following a Higher Education Review, each provider is required to produce an action plan in response to the conclusions of the report. Please click here to view our action plan. At the 2017 monitoring visit the QAA team found that the College had made commendable progress in implementing the recommendations resulting from the 2016 review.

The College’s undergraduate and postgraduate provision (HND, BA, MA & MBA programmes) are designated for financial support from Student Finance England which enables eligible students to receive tuition fee and maintenance loans.

ABI College is an accredited Pearson Edexcel centre. We offer the following Pearson programmes:

• HND/C Business
• HND/C Computing and Systems Development
• HND/C Health and Social Care Management
• HND/C Hospitality Management
• HND Courses in Ealing
• HND Courses in Reading

Students successfully completing HND in Business or Health and Social Care Management programmes are eligible to progress to the College’s one year BA Top-Up courses.
